Well, the "unkind" is more of a sticking point for me than the "illegal." I'm a prosecutor & it's my job to uphold the law, etc etc etc, but there are broad swaths of law which are hot hunks of bullshit.

And trust me. When you work for the Manhattan D.A., you sort of lose your ability to be scandalized.

in the mildest sense if it helps. cant pretend morals are all intact without lying my ass off but believe you me I draw the line where it counts

and if youve learned a bit of pickpocketing I would say that you grasp the general idea of what level of 'unkind' I usually manage

Then I definitely wouldn't be scandalized, if it's of that caliber. Not that I condone breaking the law at any point etc etc etc, but I've known my fair share of hoods and I've also known my fair share of lawyers and I've always found the former far more likable than the latter. Definitely easier to talk to.
